Explanation:

Train A moves at speed v1=33mph

Train B moves at speed v2=27mph.

Let t be the time when they are 480mi apart.

d1=v1×t distance traveled by train A

d2=v2×t distance traveled by train B

d1+d2=480mi

v1×t+v2×t=480mi

(v1+v2)×t=480mi

(33+27)×t=480mi

60×t=480mi

t=480/60=48/6=8hours
