John is reading a novel. After 20 minutes of reading, John still has 204 pages of the Co novel left to read. This information is represent by y=-0.6x+216, where x is the number of minutes John spends reading, and y is the number of pages he has left to read. John will take 360 minutes to read the entire novel.

Explanation:

Here:

x : The number of minutes John spends reading

y : The number of pages he has left to read.

y = -0.6 x + 216

We need to find the value of x for which the pages left to be read is 0 or the book is fully completed.

Putting y = 0, in y = -0.6 x + 216 we get:

y = -0.6 x + 216 ⇒ 0 = -0.6 x + 216

or, 0.6 x = 216

or, x =
(216)/(0.6) = 360

or, x = 360 minutes

Hence, John will take 360 minutes to read the entire novel.
