Answer: Dimes: 9

Quarters :19

Explanation:

Hi, to answer this question we have to write a system of equations using the information given:

He has 10 more quarters than dimes

Q = D +10

Clayton has saved $5.65 in dimes and quarters

0.25 Q + 0.10 D = 5.65

Where:

Q= number of quarters

D= number of dimes

Replacing the value of Q for (D+10) in the second equation:

0.25 (D +10) + 0.10 D =5.65

0.25D + 2.5 +0.10D =5.65

0.25D + 0.10 D =5.65-2.5

0.35 D = 3.15

D = 3.15/0.35

D=9

Replacing the value of D by 13 in the first equation:

Q= D +10

Q =9 +10 =19
