Answer:

By transporting essential supplies to West Berlin

Step-by-step explanation:

The attempt by USSR to prevent US , France and United States from travelling to the sectors of Berlin that lay in Russia occupied East Germany is called Berlin Blockade.

It lasted from 24th June till 11 May 1949. During the blockade USSR blocked the road and railway access to the sectors of Berlin occupied by US, Britain and French. Russia carried the blockade because they thought that the monetary reforms carried out by the three western powers would make the Germany too strong and It wanted to force the three countries to end their jurisdiction in West Berlin.

A plan was devised to airlift the supplies to West Berlin and a joint operation was carried out by Britain and USA. It came to an end after 15 months. It was one of the greatest logistical achievements of the Cold War era. Approx 278, 228 flights were made during the operation that managed to supply 2, 326, 406 ton of food and other supplies were dropped in west Berlin. Although blockade was lifted on 11th May 1949 but it ended 30th September 1949.
