The soccer field is 300 feet long and 150 feet wide. The coach asked the players to run around the perimeter of the field 20 times during practice. One player commented that they must have run at least 5 miles. Was she right?

Answer:

She was wrong , she run only

x = 3,4 miles

Explanation:

The soccer field is a rectangular area 300 ft long and 150 ft wide, therefore its perimeter is

P(sf) = 2 * 300 + 2 * 150 ⇒ P(sf) = 600 + 300

P(sf) = 900 ft

If during practice players must run 20 times that distance, they run

900 ft * 20 = 18000 ft

Now 1 ft = 0,000189 miles

18000 ?? = x

x = 3,4 miles

Then player was not right to claim she had run 5 miles
