A sample of neon gas occupies a volume of 2.8 L at 1.8 atm. What would it’s volume be at 1.2 atm ?

Answer: V= 4.2L

Explanation: To solve for the new volume we use Boyle's Law.

P1V1 = P2V2

Derive for V2 the new volume.

V2 = P1V1 / P2

V2 = 1.8 atm x 2.8 L / 1.2 atm

= 4.2 L
