Twine left will be = total length of twine - length of used twine

That’s

5 3/5 - 2 1/2

Change the fractions to improper fractions.

We have

28/5 - 5/2

Look for the LCM of the denominators.

The LCM = 10.

Now divide the lcm by the denominators and multiply the results with the numerators while the LCM becomes the denominator of the results.

We have

56 - 25 /10

31/10

3 1/10

The twine left is 3 1/10 meters
