(2c) A car starts at rest then accelerates to 10 m/s in 5 s. What is the acceleration of this car during those 5 s, assuming a constant acceleration? What would be total distance travelled in 10 s?

(1) 2m/s²

(2) 10 m

Step-by-step explanation:

(1)

To calculate acceleration we use the formula below;

a = Δ V / Δ t where;

a = acceleration

v = velocity

t = time

Δ v = v₂ – v₁

a = (10 – 0) / 5

a = 10/5

= 2m/s²

(2)

To find distance we’ll use the formula below;

½ a * t² = x, where;

a = acceleration,

t = time, and

x = distance

We are given t as 10s and acceleration is 2ms⁻², so;

x = ½ * 2 * 10

x = 10 m
