The point (1, -3) is not a solution to system of given inequality

Solution:

Given system of inequalities are:

y < x - 1 --------- eqn\ 1\\\\\ y > -x + 2 -------- eqn\ 2

We have to check if the point (1, -3) is a solution to system

Substitute (x, y) = (1, -3) in eqn 1 and eqn 2 and check if satisfies the inequality

Substitute (x, y) = (1, -3) in eqn 1

-3 < 1 - 1\\\\-3 < 0

-3 is less than 0 is true

Substitute (x, y) = (1, -3) in eqn 2

-3 > -1 + 2\\\\-3 > 1

-3 greater than 1 is false

Therefore, the point (1, -3) is not a solution to system of given inequality
