Answer:

Politics and Economics affected the Iranian hostage crisis in the following ways:

1. The crisis was a result of the political turbulence and Islamic revolution in Iran which occurred between 1978 and 1979 and ultimately led to the deposition of the Iranian Monarch, MOHAMMED REZA SHAH PALHAVI.

2. The crisis also also affected trade relations between the United States and Iran. The crisis instigated the U.S to freeze all Iranian assets (both liquidated and unliquidated) in the U.S.

3. Also, the U.S avoided the Iranian oil as a result of this crisis and was also able to lobby its loyalist allies into placing trade embargo on Iran.

4. The U.S also clamoured for international diplomacy against the Iranian government.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Iranian hostage crisis was a period between 1979 to 1981 when the Iranian revolutionary movement ceased about 77 U.S nationals at the U.S embassy in Tehran, Iran. This incident was triggered as a result of the political turbulence that had engulfed Iran between 1978-1979, which led to the deposition of its monarch, Palhavi. After the said deposition, Palhavi ran to U.S to find solace, this culminated in the Iranian government accusing the U.S of political interference in her internal affairs, and consequently, the Iranian revolution group laid siege on the U.S embassy in Tehran, capturing about 70 of the U.S nationals. In a bid to make the Iranian government release the captives, the U.S placed economic and trade embargo on Iran by avoiding Iranian oil, solidifying Iranian assets in the U.S.

The captives were subsequently released in 1981 after much negotiation.
