Anna sells home-delivery products for 2 different companies. The first company pays her 10% commission, and the second company pays her 6% commission. Next month, she wants to earn $600. If she plans on monthly sales of $7600 in total from both companies, what amount must she sell for the company that pays 10% commission?

Answer: $3600

Explanation:

Let x represent the monthly sales for the 10% commission job

Let y represent the monthly sales for the 6% commission job

Commission: .10x + .06y = 600

Monthly Sales: x + y = 7600

Use Elimination Method to solve the system of equations

100(.10x + .06y = 600) ---> 10x + 6y = 60,000

-6( x + y = 7600) ---> -6x - 6y = -45,600

4x = 14,400

x = 3600
