Groups need to have culture because it is what represents them. It gives them an identity for it constitutes their beliefs and practices. It reflects the group's way of thinking and gives them a sense of belongingness. Culture affects the group's way of life.

Any human group needs to have the following major elements of culture: symbols, language, norms, rituals, values and artifacts.
Symbols convey ideas or simply stand for something. For example, cheek kissing in Italy is accepted while it is not accepted in Japan.
Language allows people to make social interaction and understand each other. This is used in order for people to learn things within the group.
Norms refer to the accepted ways, behaviors and standards of a group. For example, groups have different accepted ways when it comes to how men and women should behave.
Rituals are ceremonies that are being passed from generation to generation.
Values refer to the beliefs of people within the group. This provides harmony within the group.
Artifacts refer to the group's material culture. Modern societies or groups, tend to have technologically-advanced artifacts.
