1. 314cm²

2. 216.16 sq ft

Explanation:

there are six sides in each rectangular prism

to find the surface area, fins the area of each side and then add them together to find the total surface area!

1) 8cm x 9cm = 72cm²

x 2 (because there are two of the same sides) = 144cm²

5cm x 8cm = 40cm²

x 2 = 80cm²

144cm² + 80cm² = 224cm²

5cm x 9cm = 45cm²

x 2 = 90cm²

224 + 90 = 314cm² = total surface area

2) repeat the same process!

(12ft x 6.4ft) x 2 = 153.6sq ft

(6.4ft x 1.7ft) x 2 = 21.76 sq ft

(12ft x 1.7ft) x 2 = 40.8 sq ft

add these all together =

216.16 sq ft = total surface area
