Answer: Length = 12cm , width = 21cm

Explanation:

Let the length be x , then the width is x + 9, That is

Length = x

Width = x + 9

The formula for calculating the perimeter of a rectangle is given by:

Perimeter = 2 ( Length + Width )

substituting the values , we have :

66 = 2 ( x + x + 9 )

66 = 2 ( 2x + 9 )

divide through by 2

66/2 = 2x + 9

33 = 2x + 9

subtract 9 from both sides

33 - 9 = 2x

24 = 2x

divide through by 2

therefore :

x = 12

This means that

Length = 12cm

Width = 12 + 9 = 21 cm
