Yes the observation is correct.

If we had 1+1+1+1, then this shortens to 4*1

Similarly, 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 = (1+1+1+1)/5 = (4*1)/5 = 4*(1/5)

We have four copies of 1/5 being added, which is why we multiply 4 by 1/5.
