The trader bought 60 goats

Solution:

A trader bought goats for N 4000 each

He sold them for N 180,000 at a loss of 25%

To find: Number of goats bought

From given,

Cost price of 1 goat = 4000

Cost price of "x" goats = 4000x

Selling price of "x" goats at loss of 25 % is:

180000 = 4000x - 25 % of 4000x

180000 = 4000x - (25)/(100) * 4000x\\\\180000 = 4000x (1 - 0.25)\\\\180000 = 4000x * 0.75\\\\0.75x = 45

Divide both sides by 0.75

x = 60

Thus he bought 60 goats
