The ratio of red counters to blue counters is 1:3 how many more red counters do you need to add to make the ratio of red to blue 3:1

So let's say you start out with 2 reds and 6 blues, that is equivalent to 1:3. to get a ratio of 3:1 we would need to add 16 more red counters to get the ratio we need, because there are 6 blue counters and 18 red counters, 18 divided by 6 is 3.

I'm not sure if this helps please correct me if I am wrong. -~-

Answer:

We need to add 8 more red counters

Explanation:

(1+x)/(3)=(3)/(1)\\\\(1+x)*1=3*3\\\\1 +x=9\\\\ x=9-1\\x=8
