A transit train from Boston to New York and a passenger train from New York to Boston both departed at 3:00. The distance between the New York station and the Boston station is 280 miles. The speed of the transit train was 80 miles per hour. The speed of the passenger train was 60 miles per hour.

Which train will arrive at their destination first?

Answer:

The transit train will.

Explanation:

It's easy if you look at the problem carefully. Since the trains both started at the same time and the distance is the same, you just have to look at the speed.

The transit train goes at 80 mph.

The passenger train goes at 60 mph.

From that, we know that the transit train is faster, therefore it will arrive at the destination first.

Answer:

the transit train

Explanation:

The reason why is because it's more faster each hour compared to the other train. 80 is obviously bigger than 60 which makes the train travel at a faster rate. hope this isn't as confusing as I think it is, if you have more questions feel free to ask :)
