In a newspaper, it was reported that yearly robberies in Springfield were up 26% to 252 in 2011 from 2010. How many robberies were there in Springfield in 2010?

i did a little bit of guessing and checking but the answer is 200 because if you multiply 200 by 1 it comes out to 200 and if you multiply it by .26 it comes out to 52. you multiply by .26 because it was 26% and you need to move the decimal over 2 when changing to decimal form. to find it immediately, you multiply 200 by 1.26 and it comes out to be 252 (sorry about the sloppy handwriting)
