y = mx + c

where; m = slope; and c = intercept

now we are give the equation 2x + y = 4

first of all we make y subject of formula in order to represent the equation in the slope-intercept form

y = -2x + 4

I simply subtracted 2x from both sides of the equation

comparing the two equations

y = mx + c and

y = -2x + c

m corresponds to -2
