(ii) Show that the equation
2x + 4 = (x - 1)(x - 2) has only
one real root​

It doesn't, actually.

Expang the right hand side to get


(x-1)(x-2)=x^2-3x+2

So, the equation becomes


2x+4=x^2-3x+2

Move everything to one side to get


x^2-5x-2=0

This equation has solutions


x_(1,2)=(5\pm√(33))/(2)

Which are actually two different real roots.
