Lactose is milk sugar, and as infants, humans produce substantial amounts of the lactase enzyme to digest it. However, as we age, we soon lose some or even all of our lactase, In such cases, undigested lactose passes to the lower intestine where bacteria break down into lactic acid and CO2, causing painful gas and bloating. This problem could be avoided by.

a) avoiding all dairy products containing lactose.
b) taking lactase enzyme tablets when consuming lactose products
c)taking any enzyme tablets when consuming dairy products
d) consuming lactose in tablet form
e) taking lactase enzyme tablets or avoiding all dairy products

Answer:

a) avoiding all dairy products containing lactose.

b) taking lactase enzyme tablets when consuming lactose products

e) taking lactase enzyme tablets or avoiding all dairy products

Step-by-step explanation:

When a baby become 2 to 5 year old the production of most of the lactase stops so the undigested lactose gets into the colon where it acts as substrate for the lactic acid bacteria which produce lactic acid, CO2 and cause painful gas, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, etc.

So for avoiding this problem, lactose-containing dairy products should be avoided by lactose intolerant person or they can take lactase enzymes containing tablets after consuming lactose products because the lactose will be digested by the lactase enzyme which is present in the tablet and no lactose will be remained for lactose fermenting bacteria.
