2. if the allele frequencies in a population with two alleles at a locus are p and q, then the expected genotype frequencies are P², 2pq, and q². For a population in genetic equilibrium:

p + q = 1.0

p = the frequency of the dominant allele

q = the frequency of the recessive allele

Therefore

p² + 2pq + q² = 1

Where

p² = frequency of AA (homozygous dominant)
