The percentage of discount is 20 %

Solution:

Given that,

We read on the poster of a store that its prices are discounted up to 60%

From given,

Original price = $ 65

Discounted price = $ 52

Let x be the percent of discount

Then, we can say,

Discounted price = original price - discount on original price

52 = 65 - x \% * 65\\\\52 = 65 - (x)/(100) * 65\\\\52 = 65 - 0.65x\\\\0.65x = 65 - 52\\\\0.65x = 13\\\\Divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 0.65\\\\x = 20

Thus percentage of discount is 20 %
