Rather than taking a straight path from the departure to the pint of destination, the path must be slightly angled towards the west of the destination to cater to the Coriolis effect.

Coriolis effect, due to earth’s rotation on its axis, causes the winds (and ocean currents) to be deflected towards the right the further you move to the Northern hemisphere. Therefore, the flight path, if it does not incorporate this effect this phenomenon, it will miss the destination due to being carried by the deflected winds off target.
