The length of legs of isosceles right triangle is 8.5 cm

Solution:

Given is a isosceles triangle

hypotenuse = 12 cm

In an isosceles right triangle, the legs have equal lengths

Let these sides be each "a" cm

By pythogoras theorem,

(Hypotenuse)^2 = (leg)^2 + (leg)^2\\\\12^2 = a^2+a^2\\\\2a^2 = 144\\\\a^2 = 72\\\\Take\ square\ root\ on\ both\ sides\\\\a = √(72)\\\\a = 8.49 \approx 8.5

Thus the length of leg of isosceles right triangle is 8.5 cm
