If an mRNA sequence in the 5'-3' direction usually begins UGG AUG UCG CCC AUA, what would you expect to happen if the guanine in the third position is deleted from the mRNA sequence?

Answer: Rearrangement of Base sequence

Explanation: Indel mutation- Inserts- deletion mutation is the removal of nucleotides from a DNA sequence as in Inserts or addition of new nucleotide to the sequence.

Indels can result in a shift in the DNA sequence(frame shift Mutation),or formation of entirely new protein outside the original sequence.

Indel have being said to be the cause of some disease, some Indels are used as genetic markers in natural population.

When guanine is deleted a new base is formed UGG AUG UCC CCA UA...a shift occur leading to the formation of new base pair.
