  • One must get rid of any heavy material like the jet pack and other materials other then the space suit. And, then as the amount of mass,m gained by the person decreases we know that there is a net gravitational force,F(G) between the spacecraft and the individual. So, the astronaut will be pulled by the larger in body spacecraft to itself and eventually will be saved due to the force of attraction present between the different celestial entities inside the universe.
  • So if i was one of the astronaut on a spacewalk to fix my spacecraft with a hammer. And lets say my lifeline (tether) breaks and my jet pack on my back is out of fuel. To return safely to my spacecraft (without anyone to help you) i should first get rid of any heavy material other then my space suit and then i would myself will be compelled towards the space craft.

Here we will apply the law of conservation of momentum which is one of the powerful laws of physics. As this law states that the "if no external forces are acting on the system then the net momentum of the system before and after must remain conserved. As the astronaut has a hammer, if he throws it in the direction opposite of his space craft, he will automatically move towards the space craft to conserve the momentum. That's how he can reach the space craft easily by throwing away the hammer.
