The following are the reasons why technology in schools has become a problem nowadays:

  • The students are relying more on technology to solve their academic problems rather than helping themselves out by going through books and other similar materials. This is affecting the efficiency of the students by constantly degrading their intellectual abilities due to the lack of critical thinking exercises for the brain.

  • Students are involving themselves more in activities other than the academic activities through the technologically advanced devices they have. This is clearly diverting their attention away from studies and draining their energy in doing insignificant stuff. They are choosing temporary fun that they can have with the technology at hand over the academic utility of the technology.

  • The teachers are finding it difficult to make students get rid of their addictions to their devices and various applications that they have on them. It has become a routine for the teachers to ask the students to put their devices away at the beginning of every single class. This is not only culminating in the wastage of crucial instructional time but also causing the teachers to become victims of unnecessary stress and blame for students not performing up to the mark.

  • Through psychological studies, it has been observed that the ability of students to concentrate on a particular activity for a long time has drastically reduced due to their increased screen time. It is also observed that students are becoming incapable of doing complex mathematical calculations and comprehension tasks on their own as their brains are eventually getting reprogrammed to seek information externally without going for much of neural activity.
