A box has orange, green, and brown beads. There are 8 more orange beads than green beads. There are twice as many brown beads as orange. There are 96 beads in all. How many orange beads are there?

We have been that there are 8 more orange beads than green beads. We can represent this information in an equation as:


O=G+8...(1)


G=O-8...(1)

There are twice as many brown beads as orange. We can represent this information in an equation as:


B=2\cdot O...(2)

There are 96 beads in all. We can represent this information in an equation as:


B+O+G=96...(3)

Upon substituting equation (1) and (2) in equation (3), we will get:


2\cdot O+O+O-8=96


4\cdot O-8+8=96+8


4\cdot O=104


O=(104)/(4)=26

Therefore, there are 26 orange beads.
