You're trying to make an equation out of the information on the graph.

So, start with the format y = mx + b.

The variable m represents the slope. Use rise/run. I chose to use the points (0, 16) and (2, 12).

You would end up with a rise over run that looks like this: 4/2. Simplified, the slope would be 2. Because this line is moving downwards, your slope is negative.

So far, you have y = -2x + b.

The variable b represents the initial value, or where the line first touches the y-axis. You can see that the initial value is 16.

Plug that in. y = -2x + 16.
