Multiply both sides by 5 to clear the fraction, gives

3(x - 10) = 85 - 20x ← distribute left side

3x - 30 = 85 - 20x ( add 20x to both sides )

23x - 30 = 85 ( add 30 to both sides )

23x = 115 ( divide both sides by 23 )

x = 5
