Answer:

48 persons will hire 4-seater cars = 3, and 9-seater cars = 4.

Explanation:

Let the people hire 4-seater cars = x

and number of 9-seater cars hired by the people = y

Total number of seats in cars = 4x + 9y

Since number of persons planning to travel = 48

So, 4x + 9y = 48

Now we will randomly plug in the values of x and y to get the numbers of cars hired.

For x = 1 , y =
(44)/(9) , Not possible.

for x = 2, y =
(40)/(9) , Not possible

for x = 3, y = 4

Therefore, 48 persons will hire 4-seater cars = 3, and 9-seater cars = 4.
