In order to have two real roots the discriminant should be posivive

  • D = - b² - 4ac
  • D = - b² - 4(-2)(-5) = - b² - 40

We need D > 0

  • -b² - 40 > 0
  • b² + 40 < 0
  • b² < - 40

There is no solution as b² is never negative
