A boy at A attempts to throw a ball with a radius of 0.5m over the roof of a barn such that it is launched at an angle of 40degrees. Determine the speed, VA at which he must throw the ball so that it reaches its maximum height above C and the ball clears the top of the roof. Also, find the distance, d, where the boy must stand so that he can make the throw. Do this portion on paper and turn in your work.

Answer:

Va = 4.9 m/s and d= 1.19

Step-by-step explanation:

H=v^2*Sin^2(θ) /29

0.5 m will be the maximum height as the radius of the trajectory

g as acceleration due to gravity 10 m/s^2

R = Va^2 Sin 2(θ)/g; the half of the range will be the distance expected to make the height.
