For this case we have to if Sylvia shared the whole strawberry package among the three friends we have:

s: Variable that represents the amount of strawberries in the package

This is:

\frac {s} {3} = 8

Solving we have:

s = 3 * 8\\s = 24

Thus, there were 24 strawberries in the package.

Answer:

Option A:
\frac {s} {3} = 8

Option D: The variable, s, is equal to the number of strawberries that were in the package.

Option E: There are 24 strawberries in the package.
