The vegetable patch is a trapezoid.

The formula for a trapezoid is A=[(a+b)/2]*h

we can substitute to get A=[(5+7)/2]*10

we solve this and get 60 meters

solving for the flower bed, we use (b*h)/2 since it is a triangle

substituting we get (3*8)/2

this simplified is 12

we add 12 and 240 to get a area of the flower bed and vegetable garden to be 72 meters

we calculate the total area by multiplying lw. we substitute to get 10(14) and get a total area of 140

we subtract 72 from 140 to get an answer of 68 sq m
