Answer:

1 1/10

Explanation:

3/5 + 1/2

We can't directly add together because the denominator is not equal, so we do that.

The lowest common factor of the denominator is 10.

3 × 2 / 5 × 2 + 1 × 5 / 2 × 5

6/10 + 5/10

Now that they are equal, add them together (only the numerator will be added and denominator will not change).

6/10 + 5/10 = 11/10

As you can see, the numerator exceeds the denominator by 1 so you make 1 whole number and leave 1 as the numerator. This is a mixed fraction.

1 1/10

Explanation:

(3)/(5) + (1)/(2) \\ \\ = (3 * 2 + 1 * 5)/(5 * 2) \\ \\ = (6 + 5)/(10) \\ \\ = (11)/(10) \\ \\ = 1 (1)/(10)
