Jarvis has a $3 coupon at a deli. He buys turkey at.$8.50 lb. What equation gives the total amount of money Jarvis spends y if he buys x pounds of turkey

Y = 3 - 0.85X

Explanation:

It is a linear relationship between the total amount of money Jarvis spends (Y) and the pounds of turkey. (X)

So, Y is the dependent virable when X is the independent one. Moreover, $8.50 lb is the price for per pound and it is also be the slope in our equation.

Then we have: Y = 3 - 0.85X

It means, the more pounds of turkey Javis buys, the more money he need to spend. If he buys 0 pound, he still have $3 coupon left.

P/s: Y will be negative because that we should use Absolute value to find the amount he spend.
