Area of the figure is 51.5 ft².

Solution:

The given image is splitted as three shapes.

Triangle, rectangle and triangle.

Base of the top triangle = 3 ft

Height of the top triangle = 2 ft

Area of the triangle =
(1)/(2)\ bh

$=(1)/(2)*3*2

= 3 ft²

Area of the top triangle = 3 ft²

Length of the rectangle = (8 + 3) ft = 11 ft

Breadth of the rectangle = 4 ft

Area of the rectangle = length × breadth

= 11 × 4

Area of the rectangle = 44 ft²

Base of the bottom triangle = 3 ft

Height of the bottom triangle = 3 ft

Area of the triangle =
(1)/(2)\ bh

$=(1)/(2)*3*3

= 4.5 ft²

Area of the bottom triangle = 4.5 ft²

Area of the figure = 3 ft² + 44 ft² + 4.5 ft²

= 51.5 ft²

Area of the figure is 51.5 ft².
