To effectively answer the questions,let's look at the four parenting styles propounded by Diana Baumrind and then pick out the one that we think is the most successful
parenting styles and most likely to achieve positive outcomes in childhood and adolescence.
According to Diana Baumrind,there are four parenting styles which includes, AUTHORITATIVE, AUTHORITARIAN, PERMISSIVE and NEGLECTFUL.
IN AUTHORITATIVE parenting style, the parents are warm and sensitive to their children's emotional and sensitive needs which brings about higher academic performance on the part of the children, the parents set clear rules that govern the pattern of behaviour of the children and this makes the children to have good and positive self esteem, the parents have high expectations on the children and believe in them to be the best they can be in their career and every other aspect of their life which makes the children to develop better skills and positive attitude when relating with others, The parents are very supportive in every area of the children's life both academical, emotional,spiritual and other aspects as well as value independence and give the children room to learn in their own under the parents monitoring and tutulage which make the children to be less prone to mental illness and juvenile deliquences.
AUTHORITATIVE parenting style is the most successful parenting style.
In AUTHORITARIAN parenting style,there is insensitivity to the children's needs on the side of the parents which brings about low academic performance on the side of the children,there is strict rules and regulations as well as high expectations on the the side of the parents which bring about less self esteem and poor social skills on the side of the children and the parents expect blind obedience from the children without giving a flexible rules and being sensitive to their needs and this make the children end up as social misfits and involve
themselves in juvenile deliquences.
In PERMISSIVE parenting style,the parents are over indulgent, they pamper and set weak rules for their children and they are not keen on enforcing the rules,this makes the children end up egocentric,lack self control.the children find it difficult to follow rules and they always have issues mingling and coping with the public in terms of relationship and business.
In NEGLECTFUL parenting style,as the name implies,the parents are uninvolved in the children's life,they let them do what ever thing they like with makes the children end up as social misfits and bad personalities in the society because they have no one to guilde and instruct them.
