a staircase has treads that are 10 inches deep with 7 inch high risers. if the staircase needs to rech a total height of 8ft, 2in how much floor space needs to be allowed for the staircase?

Explanation:

The 8'2" rise is 98 inches, so (98 in)/(7 in) = 14 risers are required. Each riser but the first is preceded by a 10-inch tread. The horizontal space between the first riser and the last is 13×10 inches = 130 inches.
