Owen and his friend Kayden are going to a carnival that has games and rides. Owen played 5 games and went on 6 rides and spent a total of $28.75. Kayden played 4 games and went on 3 rides and spent a total of $16.25. Determine the cost of each game and the cost of each ride.

Answer:

Each game costs 1.25 and each ride costs 3.75

Explanation:

Cost of each game = x

Cost of each ride = y

According to given statement;

5x+6y=28.75 Equation 1

4x+3y=16.25 Equation 2

Multiply Equation 2 by 2

= 32.50

Subtract Equation 1 from Equation 3

3x = 3.75

Divide both sides by 3

x = 1.25

Put x=1.25 in Equation 1

6y = 22.50

Divide both sides by 6

y = 3.75
