Answer:

Rectangle A: 6cm × 4cm

Rectangle B: 6cm × 2cm

Explanation:

Area of square = side² = 36 cm²

Each side = 6 cm

When you cut a square to form rectangles, length is equal to the side of the square but the width changes.

Area of rectangle A = ⅔(36) = 24

Rectangle A: length = 6 cm

Area = 24 = length × width

24 = 6 × width

width = 4cm

Dimensions of A are 6×4

Area of rectangle B = ⅓(36) = 12

Rectangle B: length = 6 cm

Area = 12 = length × width

12 = 6 × width

width = 2 cm

Dimensions of B are 6×2
