"Bella and Sophia are selling candy after school. At the end of the day they find they have earned a total of $65 in $5 bill, and $3 in $1 bills. The 2 girls decide to divide the 5 dollar bills and the 1 dollar bills equally among themselves and then give the leftover dollar bills to Bella's little sister, how much is bella, sophia and their little sister share?"

If Bella and Sophia selling candy at school made $65 in $5 bill, this means the number of $5dollar bill is $65/$5 which is 13 $5dollar bills

Similarly, if they earn $3 in $1 bill, the number of $1 bill earned will be $3/$1 which gibes 3 $1 dollar bill.

This shows they made 13 $5 bill and 3 $1 bill. If they share this bills equally, each of them will get 13/2 i.e 6 in $5 each with 1 in $5 bill as left over and 3/2 $1 bill which is 1 in $1 bill each for them with 1 in $1 as left over.

If they were to divide it equally without left over, each of them will have 6 of $5 bill and 1 of $1 bill which 12 $5 bills and 2 $1 bill in total

(6×$5)+(1×$1)

= $30+$1

= $31

Each of them will have $31 bills each which is $62 bill for both.

The left over bill remaining is 1 in $5 bill and 1 in $1 bill which is equivalent to

(1×$5)+(1×$1)

= $5+$1

= $6

This means that the amount of left over bills given to their sister is $6 with Bella and Sophia having $31 each

Answer:

Bella's Share = Sophia's Share = $31

Bella's little sister's share = $6

Explanation:

Given.

$65 in $5 bills

$3 in $1 bills

Let B = Bella's share

Let S = Sophia's share

Let Y = Bella little sister's share

Calculating Bella's and Sophia's share of the $65.

$65 in $5 bills

= $5 * 13bills ----- 13 bills can't be shared in two.

So, we have

= $5 * 12 + $5

--------------------- Splitting the above into two

($5 * 12) represents Bella's and Sophia's share

While $5 is the leftover

So, B + S = $5 * 12

But B = S. So,

B + B = $60

2B = $60

B = $30

Calculating Bella's and Sophia's share of the $3

$3 in $ bills

= $1 * 3bills ----- 3 bills can't be shared in two.

So, we have

= $1 * 2 + $1

--------------------- Splitting the above into two

($1 * 2) represents Bella's and Sophia's share

While $1 is the leftover

So, B + S = $1 * 2

But B = S. So,

B + B = $2

2B = $2

B = $1

Bella's Share = Sophia's Share = $30+ $1 = $31

Bella's little sister's share = $5 + $1 = $6
