In order to find the equation of a line when one point and a slope is given , we will use the formula:


y-y_(1)=m(x-x_(1))

where m is the slope.

x_(1)=4


y_(1)=-6

substituting into the formula , we have :


y - (-6) = -3(x-4)


y+6 = -3x +12

subtract 6 from both sides


y = -3x + 12 - 6


y = -3x + 6
