Solution:

Points on the graph are (0, 0) and (1, –4).

Let us first find the slope of the line.

Slope of the line formula:


$m=(y_(2)-y_(1))/(x_(2)-x_(1))


x_1=0, y_1=0, x_2=1, y_2=-4

Substitute these in the given formula, we get


$m=(-4-0)/(1-0)


$m=(-4)/(1)


$m=-4

Slope = –4

Slope-intercept form:


y-y_1=m(x-x_1)


$y-0=-4 (x-0)


$y=-4x

y = –4x

Hence the slope-intercept form of the equation of a line is y = –4x.
