becuase the 7/6 would go into -8 2 times meaning y=5

Explanation:

Because...

7/6y-8=2

Add the 8 to the other side

7/6y=10

You then have you divide 7/6y by 7/6, then do it to the other side giving you 60/7.

That gives you a mixed number of 8 4/7.
