Answer:

C.) Along a well-traveled road

Step-by-step explanation:

David Swan is a short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne set along a well-traveled road. David is traveling to Boston and he stopped by the road to get rest and get some sleep. There are many travelers who noticed him sleeping by the road. Some of them was a married couple who wanted to adopt him, then there was a girl who saved him from a bee and admired his physical appearance, then there were two criminals who wanted to kill him, but he avoided that because he was asleep. David eventually wakes up completely unaware of people who crossed their paths with him. Hawthorne wanted to put an accent on how we have/miss numerous opportunities in life and that we should contemplate what is the right opportunity to be taken.
