The Median is the number in the middle. To find the Median, place the numbers in value order.
If you have two middles (this is because you have an even about of numbers and not odd numbers), add them together and divide by two.
32 34 35 46 49 50 52 61 63 69
49 50=99/2=49.5
Even though the number 49.5 was not in the list, it's fine since half the numbers in the list are less, and half are greater.
Example for future problems:
There are fifteen numbers and the middle is the eighth number
3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 21, 23, 23, 23, 23, 29, 39, 40, 56
The median is 23. I included this to show that it doesn't matter that there might be repeating numbers.
This way is a lot easier when it comes to finding the median value/middle count how many numbers, add 1 then divide by 2
Example: There's two sorted list, one with 66 and one with 45 numbers.
- 45+1=46/2=23, the median is the 23rd number in the sorted list.
- There are 66 numbers, so 66+1=67/33.5
Hope this helps, now you know the answer and how to do it. HAVE A BLESSED AND WONDERFUL DAY! As well as a great rest of Black History Month! :-)
